"The Medieval Style" (Styles and Periods):
- Early Middle Ages (15th century): Simple wool or linen tunics predominated, for both men and women. Accessories such as leather belts and metal brooches adorned the garments.
- Romanesque (11th-12th centuries): The first class differences in clothing appear. The nobility wears more elaborate tunics, with embroidery and more luxurious fabrics. Capes and hoods become popular.
- Gothic (13th-15th centuries): Silhouettes are slimmer and waists are accentuated. Women wear draped dresses with long trains, while men wear tight-fitting doublets and tight trousers. Clothes are decorated with floral and geometric motifs.
- Renaissance (15th-16th centuries): Classical influence on fashion. Loose, flowing tunics, adorned with flounces and lace, return. Men adopt tight-fitting leggings and short capes.
