18th century European cutting sword
This civil weapon, known as the Hofdegen or small sword, was developed in the Baroque period.
They gradually evolved from the mid-17th century from the bulky sword to lighter weapons such as the broadsword. This is due to the increasing population growth and lack of space at the time. The sword was generally used by members of the upper class.
