What was its function?

The bracers of an armor serve to protect the appendages of the thorax. Most of them are made to cover the shoulder and hand of the armor.

Uses of medieval bracelets:

  • Protection in battle: Knights and soldiers wore bracers to protect their forearms in battle.
  • Protection in hunting: Hunters used bracelets to protect their forearms from cuts by animals.
  • Personal protection: People who worked with tools wore bracers to protect their forearms from injury.
