The Cinqueda also called - Cinquedea or ox tongue - is a late medieval and Renaissance time Blankwaffe with extremely broad blade. The lengths of the blades can vary between 30 and 60 cm.
It is originally from northern Italy and was used in the 15th and 16th centuries mainly by the richest upper class civilians. The name means "five fingers" and is probably derived from the extraordinary width of the blade which on one side could be five fingers wide.
The model of our replica is probably from Venice. The handle has inserted handles made of bone, which are fastened with decorative brass rivets.
The blade has a pronounced Mittelwulst. The sword comes with a leather-shod wooden scabbard, which is attached to the muzzle and brass Ortbleche.
