Hinamatsuri: The Girls' Festival (March 3) Hinamatsuri or the Doll Festival (Momo no Sekku) is celebrated every March 3 and is one of the main festivities dedicated to girls in Japan. This tradition has deep historical roots in the Japanese calendar and is part of the five great seasonal celebrations (gosekku), adopted by the imperial court with influences from Taoist thought.
