These ankle-high shoes are based on archaeological finds made in the city of York in northern England, the early Jorvik . They are timed to the 9th-10th centuries, a time when England was divided into many smaller kingdoms. For the Anglo-Saxon population, it was necessary to defend themselves from constant Viking raids. Many Vikings settled in England. York was also conquered by the Danes and ruled by the Norse for about 100 years.
Since these shoes come from exactly this period, they can be described as Viking shoes. A special feature are the two rolled leather buttons, with which the shoes are closed and individually adapted.

Please note:
The robustness of shoes according to historical standards may not meet modern requirements! They are quite sensitive to asphalt, concrete blocks and gravel. These floor coverings did not exist in the Middle Ages! Therefore, we recommend using tripping, possibly insoles or reconditioning with rubber soles at the shoemaker of your choice.
We would also like to point out that leather is a natural product and that deviations in colour and/or grain are quite common. Therefore, with these leather shoes, no pair is like the other and the illustrations above are for exemplary display only.
