The cow's-mouth shoe, also known as the ox-mouth shoe, is a form of shoe from the early 16th century, was worn by both men and women and developed during this time as a kind of part of the typical clothing of the Landsknecht. The shape of the shoe is characterized by a flat body and a wide toe, which is decorated by elliptical recesses similar to the slotted clothing of the Landsknechte. A strap with a buckle across the rist serves as a closure. The sole was fastened on a stable nail process.
