Around the 11th century
This classic Norman nasal helmet is a perfect example of traditional Viking style. This type of helmet is notably reproduced on the Bayeaux Tapestry , also known as the Queen Matilda Tapestry: a large 11th-century embroidered cloth dating to the events before the Norman conquest of England.
The basic, minimalist design of this helmet allowed for excellent vision and unrestricted breathing. The helmet is a classic skullcap with a reinforcing band around the base and a crossbar nose guard that extends downward to protect the nose and, to a lesser extent, the face.
Hand forged from 18 gauge steel. Fabric lining as well as an adjustable leather chin strap. Very comfortable and easy to wear.
