The loose-fitting dress is made of solid cotton canvas fabric and comes with a fabric belt. Contrasting details make this dress something special.
The slotted neckline is worn open
or closed with a primer. The front and back consist of rectangular strips of fabric, in the middle and side so-called geren (wedges) are inserted, which give the hem sufficient width. A gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted under the arm. The solid canvas fabric (canvas) makes the dress sturdy and heavy and is therefore suitable for spring and autumn.
The cut of the dress is based on archaeological findings dating back
from the 9th and 10th centuries. Typical for this period are long dresses with cuts, which were mainly composed of rectangles and triangles in order to consume as little fabric as possible.

Fragments have been found at Skjoldehamn, Birka and Haithabu where the cut becomes clear. The dress is therefore an authentic garment for all Vikings.
