En la Europa medieval, un
jefe de escudo (umbo)
era algo más que decoración, era el
corazón del escudo
reforzando el centro y proporcionando una superficie deflectora en la batalla. Los guerreros lo utilizaban tanto a la defensiva como a la ofensiva, y a veces golpeaban con él.
Cada pieza está
forjada a mano individualmente
dándole una distintiva
textura martillada
que captura el espíritu de la artesanía medieval. La
cúpula pulida
no sólo tiene un aspecto llamativo, sino que también ayuda a
desviar los golpes enemigos
del centro del escudo y proteger la mano que está debajo.
Este jefe (umbo) tiene
seis agujeros pretaladrados
lo que facilita su montaje seguro en cualquier escudo de madera. Viene
completo con remaches de acero a juego
que permiten una instalación sencilla sin necesidad de accesorios adicionales.
