This chainmail shirt was used by the Roman auxiliary forces. This model is sleeveless and has riveted rings - perforated only 6mm

This chainmail shirt is made of rings with a diameter of only 6 mm. According to the original templates, it consists of a series of riveted rings (round rivets) and a series of stamped rings. Due to the extremely small ring diameter, these chainmail shirts could be made from steel only 1 mm thick without losing their strength. As a result, a weight reduction of about 30 - 35% is achieved.
We shortened this Geflechtart RM (English R = Oman M de aille) because it (Hamata) was already very popular among the Celts and Romans. However, this ring armour was in use throughout the Late Middle Ages.
