Reproduction of an early 19th century lamellar armour used, for example, by Saxons, Franks and Vikings.
The Visby and Birka finds demonstrate the popularity of this armour among (northern) Germans. The scales used here are based on the originals from the Birka find.
Our slatted truss is made from about 430 shed steel by hand. The individual plates are held together by thick leather straps. They are not galvanised and may rust. If you want a sheet that will not rust, we recommend our galvanised version of the same truss: ULF-PA-11Z.
