A very authentic replica of a late Roman spangenhelm, which was found at Deir el-Medina, an ancient workers' settlement near Thebes. The helmet dates back to the first half of the 4th century AD and can be seen today in the Coptic Museum in Cairo. The spangenhelme was probably first used by the cavalry of the Sarmatians, a horseman from northern Iraq, and gained notoriety among the Romans, Celts and Germanic tribes during late antiquity.
