In the Roman Empire, helmets were equipped with cheek flaps as standard, but there are also many finds from the early and high Middle Ages. For example, numerous Vá¤lkerwanderungs and Viking nose and spangenhelms are covered with flaps.
This pair of separate flaps from Ulfberth makes it possible to retrofit almost any helmet with this face guard. They are provided on the reverse side with cowhide, which prevents contact with cold, possibly sharp-edged steel. On top of this a wide and very thick leather strip is sewn, the other end can be attached with a little manual skill to your helmet. In addition, the chin straps and brass buckle are riveted.
A pair consisting of a left and right fin is delivered.
