The medium chainmail coat reaches halfway up the forearm and just below the hip. It is riveted with round rivets, which are the most affordable of all rivets.
It is a European flat ring chain weave, which was manufactured and used from ancient times to the late Middle Ages in various modifications and with different ring diameters. It consists of only flat chain rings. Alternatively, the rings and stamped rings in braid 4 in Fig. 1 are connected to each other. This weave was and is less laborious than a fully riveted braid, as only every second ring is riveted. The riveting of the riveted rings is done by means of round rivets, which provide a round hemispherical rivet head.
