Our tunic The cotton tunic is made of solid canvas and decorated with an embroidered border. The border depicts a knot pattern (also called Celtic knot) and is based on the border of the picture stone from Lärbro (Gotland). The tunic is cut wide and has a flared lap. Therefore, it should be worn with a belt. The neckline is wide and gussets (rectangular pieces of fabric) are inserted under the arms. Pockets are inserted in the side seam. The elaborate design and contrasting details make it clear that this is an upper garment. The appearance and cut of this tunic correspond to the
A garment from the High and Early Middle Ages in Northern Europe. Typical for the cut of this period are longer-cut upper garments with a straight-cut torso part and a flared lap (skirt). Under the arms, gussets (rectangular pieces of fabric) were used to increase wearing comfort. Archaeological finds with similar cuts were made eB in Viborg and Haithabu.
