Templar Knight Tunic
At the Council of Troyes in 1128, the Order of the Temple was recognised by Pope Honorius II. The Knights were given the white vestment as a symbol of the purity of their life, to which Pope Eugene added the red cross in 1146. King Baldwin II, King of Jerusalem, installed the Order in an area of the Jerusalem palace believed to be the Temple of Solomon, from which it took the name of the Knights Templar or Templars. The Order's battle to defend the Holy Land is already legendary, just as the loss of its accumulated wealth is still a mystery.
