The monstrous undead with a hammer the size of your head has you in its sights, and you've found yourself standing without an ally. Your usual tactic is to circle the battle, picking your fights strategically. There's no time now.

You duck under the first blow, keeping your Star Buckler between the hammer and your limp body. You’re faster than the rotting monstrosity, but in your desperation you stumble and roll. Once again, the hammer falls, and you raise your Star Buckler to catch the force. Your small shield holds, buying time as your friends finally come to your aid.

DETAILS

The Star Buckler from Epic Armoury is a small, versatile round shield, inspired by skilled swordsmen throughout history. This 40cm buckler has a neutral design suitable for many character types, sculpted and painted to look like an iron shield, reinforced with a brass rim and a star studded face. A round shield boss in the centre is designed to deflect weapons.

Use this Star Buckler left or right handed with the split leather wrapped punch grip hidden behind the boss of the shield. The 14cm handle is secured via hard EVA foam for a reliable and solid grip made to last. Feel confident that this latex shield will withstand the continued abuse of a LARP with regular latex maintenance.

HISTORY

• Originally developed for the Bucellarii, personal armies of wealthy landowners in the late Roman Empire
• Particularly popular among light-footed fighters during the Renaissance and Baroque eras.
• He used the shield boss , the round, convex piece of material in the center of the shield, to deflect blows.
