With a Caucasian origin, the shashka became a legendary weapon of the Russian Cossacks. Its unique hilt and overall design made it effective for cavalry and it was used in the Russian army since the 19th century. The piece we offer here is a replica of an original Soviet Cossack sabre model 1927, manufactured by the Zlatoust Arms Factory in 1934.

The blade, made of EN45 spring steel, is full tang and single-edged, unsharpened and has been given an artificial patina to make it look worn from use. The CCCP initials on the finely detailed pommel, engraved with a star and a hammer and sickle, reproduce the markings and serial number of the original piece. The pommel and bolster are made of brass with an antique finish, while the fluted handle is made of wood.

Also included is a long-sleeved bayonet of approximately 50 cm for a repeating rifle known as the Mosin-Nagant. The shashka is delivered with a brown leather and wood scabbard, with bayonet mounts, muzzle plate and antique-finished brass cap.

Please note that this sabre is not intended for display combat, but as a collector's item and decoration. Its overall length is approximately 93.5 cm, with a blade approximately 81.5 cm long and 5 mm thick (cutting edge approximately 1 mm). The handle has a length of approximately 2 cm, with a handle area of ​​approximately 6 cm. The maximum width of the blade is approximately 2.9 cm, and the center of gravity is located approximately 22.5 cm in front of the stop.
