Functional Katana Great Wave

Designer Paul Chen for Hanwei has designed a masterpiece with the Great Wave Katana SH5004. It is a functional katana that features a unique design inspired by Japanese culture, the tomoe motif which is commonly used as a family crest and adornment for shrines. The sword features a tsuba, fuchi and kashira made of blackened iron, decorated with Tomoe-Mon, and a hand-forged T10 carbon steel blade.

The blade of the Great Wave Katana features a long Kissaki (0), making it perfect for cutting exercises. In addition, it has been differentially hardened to achieve a pronounced hardness line (Hamon). The total length is around 102.9 cm, while the blade has a length of approximately 71.1 cm, and the lower one about 29.2 cm. Its weight, being close to 1191 g, finds a center of gravity of approximately 12.7 cm ahead of the group.

The Great Wave Katana is complemented by a high quality black rayon wrap covering the Tsuka as well as a set of Sageo. The Say of the sword is painted a deep black which highlights the beauty of the blade. Furthermore, it features a blade width of approximately 3.2 cm at the group and 2.4 cm at the top, with a blade thickness at Plaier of 8mm and about 6mm at the top. Finally, the Sori measures approximately 1.9 cm.
