Fencing dagger or LeftHand daggers are often used in conjunction with the rapier. Daggers allow for better defense against attacking sword blades, at the same time offering but also the opportunity to quickly counterattack. Fencing schools in Europe proliferate teaching fencing with two corresponding arms. The style and design of the lefthand were often adapted to the sword and its properties were taken in order to increase effectiveness. The handle is made of hardwood.
