Viking long saxophone with bone handle

If you are a lover of Viking history, this Viking long sax with bone handle in Jellinge style from the 10th century is definitely a piece you can't miss. This sax knife, also known as skramasax, was used by Viking warriors in their raids and battles and can now be yours as a decorative or collectible item.

With its long EN45 spring steel blade featuring a strong back and a pointed place, this Viking sax is an impressive piece. What makes it really stand out, however, is its polished bone handle with engravings in the Jelling style, a Norse art style dating back to the 10th century that is characterized by intertwined, ribbon-like animals with striped bodies.

The particular motif, two dragons or snakes intertwined in an S-shape, has its origins in the famous 10th-century silver Jelling cup, which gave this style of Viking art its particular name, and is now part of the collection of the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen.

The Viking Langsax also comes with a beautiful scabbard made of 3mm thick vegetable tanned leather with brass fittings (antique finish), including three hanging rings. The bottom metal strip also has an animal head (possibly a wolf) and a runic inscription, making it even more special.

It should be noted that this Viking knife was not designed for spectacular fighting as the tip of the blade is not rounded and the edge is not sharpened but sanded (about 0.5 to 1 mm thick).

At Espadas y Más we have the best medieval knives, large knives, Viking knives, kitchen knives, fantasy knives, Japanese knives.
