The Scottish shield was used by Highlanders as a defence against arrows and hand weapons. It was light and manoeuvrable, often concealing a left hand dagger. Our Rob Roy shield has patterns dating back to the 45 Jacobite Rising. This piece is beautifully made, with brown leather over wood and it's goatskin backing. The Rob Roy Targe has a brass centre boss with brass plates and nails and is fitted on the back with a leather arm strap and hand grip. This Rob Roy Targe like the originals. is approximately 66cm in diameter.
