This Germanic Framea is a faithful reconstruction based on an archaeological find from southern ancient Germania, dated between the 1st and 5th centuries AD. The framea , as described by the Roman historian Tacitus , was a light javelin used by Germanic warriors for both hand-to-hand and ranged combat. This replica is hand-forged and accurately reproduces the original design, capturing the essence of one of the most versatile and emblematic weapons of the ancient Germanic peoples.

Frame Features:

  • Hand Forged Carbon Steel: The frame is made from a single piece of high carbon steel, ensuring durability and strength. The cutting edge is lightly honed, while the blade has been intentionally left unpolished to retain an authentic look, with visible welding marks, giving it a unique historical aesthetic.
  • Versatile and Functional Design: With a short, narrow 12cm blade and a 12.5cm long muzzle, the framea is designed to be used in both close combat and long range throwing. This versatile design made it ideal for both infantry and cavalry warriors.

Historical Replica Based on Tacitus' Descriptions: According to Tacitus ' description in Germania 6 , the framea was a light javelin that Germanic warriors used with great effectiveness. Germanic infantry warriors carried several javelins that they could throw at great distances, while cavalry supplemented their equipment with a shield and a single framea .

Framea Specifications:

  • Material: High carbon steel
  • Total length: approx. 24.5cm
  • Blade length: approx. 12 cm
  • Nozzle length: approx. 12.5 cm
  • Nozzle diameter: approx. 22mm
  • Weight: approx. 210 g
  • Note: Delivery does not include the handle, allowing the length and style of the handle to be customized according to the user's preferences.

Ideal for Collectors and Historical Reenactments: The Germanic Framea is a must-have for collectors of historical weapons and enthusiasts of ancient reenactments. Its faithful design and handcrafted workmanship make it a valuable addition to any collection of replica weapons from Antiquity.
