Disc dagger, 15th century, with leather sheath
The name disc dagger refers to the round, plate-shaped parapet element as well as the disc-shaped pommel of this late medieval melee weapon.
It was often used with a shield, the Buckler. The mostly narrow, but sharp and strong blades could ideally be used to pierce chainmail but also plate armour.
This highly authentic replica of a 15th century Primus Arms dagger is based on an original, now on display at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England.
The dagger has a solid wooden handle with steel fittings and a very sturdy cowhide sheath with attached belt. The blade is not sharpened.
Details:
- Total length: approx. 35cm
- Blade length: approx. 21.0 cm
- Maximum blade width: approximately 1.5 cm
- Including cowhide sheath, strap width for strap: approx. 5.5 cm
