The use of leather and metal armour combined is something that many people believe led to the confusion of the Victorians, who believed that there was such a thing as "studded" armour. This type of confusion has been carried over in many cases to our days, where we can still see references to it in role-playing games or literature. The reality is that there are historical examples of leather or textile armour, reinforced by metal bands that are riveted to them, hence the aspect that led our ancestors into error. A logical evolution and typical of the time of transitional armour, some examples can be the funerary effigy of Gunther von Schwarzburg (1349) and the funerary brass of Sir Thomas Cheyne (1375), which gives a broad spectrum when it comes to dating the use of these armours.
The legs we offer with this model are somewhat reminiscent of those worn in the representation of Sir Thomas Cheyne, in which you can see legs made of what appear to be five pieces, with the plates on the inside of the piece and with a decorative border at the end.
Specs:
Made of 1.4mm split leather and steel. Split leather may contain cuts, imperfections and may not be 100% regular, but this is proof of its authenticity. The roughness or colour may vary slightly and the finish cannot be guaranteed to be identical from one product to another. Dyeing is done using natural methods and the final finish may vary depending on the original tone of the leather.
Steel thickness may vary due to the handcrafting of our products. Carbon steel is not treated so it may rust, which is easily removable. You can protect this item from rust with synthetic or mineral oil.
No claims will be accepted for any of the above cases.
