This simple, sturdy mace with a rectangular handle and a fluted ball or bulb-shaped head is based on historical models from the 16th and 17th centuries. Inspired by the century, it was forged from carbon steel and is fitted with a stitched leather handle and leather wrist strap.
This particular striking weapon , designed primarily as a formidable balancing weapon for crushing plate armour, is sometimes called the designated Turkish mace . However, this type of mace was not only widespread among the Ottomans, but was also very popular from Eastern Europe, through the Middle East to India. In terms of design, the many shapes and patterns ranged from minimalist and functional (primarily designed for combat) to richly decorated and lavishly designed (designed more for ceremonial purposes or as a badge of rank).
