The Lucerne hammer, also known as the falcon's beak, is a polearm that was used between the 14th and 16th centuries. It is a special form of war hammer that combines three weapons : a spear point (called a spit iron), a hammer side with sharp or pointed edges, and a curved tip (called a spike). The length of the shaft was at least 1.50 m.
Occasionally, the Lucerne hammer was also known as the murder axe. It was primarily used by simple infantry troops and was specifically used against knights protected by plate armour .
Our replica is based on an original find from the 16th century. It is a fairly simple construction with a perforated spike, a slotted shaft socket and a split hammer side.
Due to better shipping capacity, the Lucerne hammer is delivered without a shaft.
We recommend ash wood.
The original has a total length of approximately 195 cm.
Details:
- Material: steel, hand forged
- Total length without shaft: 63.5 cm
- Weight: approx.1170 g
