The Lorica Segmentata is believed to have been introduced into the ranks of the Roman army during the 1st century AD and was widely used at the height of the Roman Empire. This replica, designed by Luca Giampadi, is superbly made from 18 gauge steel. It is a replica of a type of Lorica found in Newstead, Scotland, dating to the 2nd century AD. This armour is quite flexible and allows a lot of freedom of movement.
