This spear is an azcona, a throwing spear similar to a dart, used in medieval times. The azcona has its origins in Spain, possibly of Basque origin. This one is made for medieval recreation.

Inner diameter of socket(sleeve): 30 to 32 mm

We recommend not storing the blade inside the sheath for long periods of time because leather is a hygroscopic material and can therefore transmit moisture to the metal and oxidize it over time.

Carbon steel is untreated so it may rust, which is easily removable. You can protect this item from rust with synthetic or mineral oil.
