Dreki Shoulder Pads

Epic Armoury's Dreki Shoulder Pads are a set of shoulder pads that protect the shoulders and upper arm of the armor. These sturdy steel plates efficiently protect the back of the shoulders and upper arm, while maintaining the same imposing Nordic-inspired design that is common to the Dreki set.

Featuring overlapping plates and rivets and an angular design that gives these pauldrons an intimidating look, with Epic Dark plates running down the center of the pauldron to give the pauldrons symmetry. The upper arm protection consists of three pieces of overlapping steel plates held together with two leather bands, spilling out the middle with an Epic Dark coated plate designed to maintain symmetry.

Based on fantasy-inspired Nordic armor such as Skyrim , Dark Souls , and modern depictions in other fictional media.

  • Made from 19 gauge mild steel/1mm thick
  • Rolled edges without sharp edges
  • Straps and accessories made of premium leather
  • Hand made, riveted and assembled.
  • Inspired by Norse fantasy armor as seen in fictional media

  • Maintenance

Epic Armory metalwork products should be treated with quality acid-free vegetable oil or wax and stored in a dry place. Metal armor containing leather parts would need separate maintenance for leather. Please read the "Leather Belts and Accessories" section below for information on cleaning and maintaining leather with leather care products.

Degreasing and preparing your armor for use

When you open your armor, you may be overwhelmed by the smell of grease and oil. The oil has been applied to protect your armor during storage and transport. Use a degreasing product or mineral spirits and a dry cloth or paper towels to remove all of the oil from your plate armor pieces. Chainmail is a little more difficult to get all of the oil off of the links, but it can be done the same way. Wipe off as much of it as you can with a dry cloth, and with the remaining oil, you can remove the grease from the chainmail with mineral spirits or another solvent by spraying it on the links. You can also choose to completely submerge your chainmail in a degreasing product and use your hands to agitate the metal in the solution, this will completely remove all of the oil and grease from your links. After removing the oil, be sure to dry the armor thoroughly. Strong, warm sunlight is great for drying armor, but you can also use a hair dryer or heat gun to speed up the process. Be careful not to overheat any leather pieces when using a heat gun.

    Cleaning

Moisture is the enemy of armour and chainmail. If your armour gets wet, it is important to dry it thoroughly as soon as possible. After handling, wearing or after six months of storage or display, all metal should be wiped down with a clean cloth. Lightly lubricate the cleaned surface with a quality acid-free vegetable oil. Alternatively, you can apply a coat of wax to the entire surface of the exposed metal. Allow the wax to dry for a couple of hours and then lightly wipe it down with a soft cloth.

    Rust prevention and removal

Store your armor in a dry place and check it every couple of months for signs of rust. If you find any, remove it by gently rubbing the affected spot with a mildly abrasive pad moistened with wax or quality acid-free vegetable oil. Epic Dark products are specially treated to resist rust, but should still be treated with oil and stored dry.

    Leather straps and accessories

Clean by removing dirt with a stiff brush, then gently rub with leather soap using a clean, damp cloth until the leather looks clean. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to wipe away any soap residue, then use a dry cloth to wipe any remaining water from the leather.

You should always condition leather after cleaning it, as the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or polish in circles into the leather. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping the leather with a final clean cloth to remove excess residue.
