Early medieval sword with combat blade

This sword is prepared by careful heat treatment of the steel by hot bath curing resulting in an excellent interplay of strength and flexibility at a Rockwell hardness of 50-52 HRC. This allows the sharp blades to have greater edge strength, while the blunt models prevent burr formation and ensure flexibility related to tip safety.

Replacement blades are available for each sword type in this series, with the exception of the Early Viking Sword. A key feature of Tinker's designs is that the blades are interchangeable. This will give you the opportunity to purchase a complete sword plus a replacement blade in order to take advantage of both the sharp and blunt version. All longswords, bastard swords and early medieval swords have Tinkers special mounting system with Allen nut which allows easy blade changing with an Allen key and ensures that the handle remains firmly attached.

The earliest medieval swords (Oakeshott Type X11) are in a sharp, dull version. Both are identical in handling. The sharp sword is provided with a groove that extends over about a third of the blade, with a diamond-shaped cross section flattened towards the tip. The blunt version has a wide, flat groove to relocate the weight towards the edges. Thus, the blade provides safety, without affecting the feel. The cruciform handle is beautiful and functional. A leather-wrapped scabbard is included.
