The HN-SH2002 Basket Handle Scottish Sword is an authentic museum piece replica that is fully functional and equipped with an easy-care stainless steel basket hilt and carbon steel blade. The grip section is made from genuine ray skin with wire wrapping and the basket is lined with cloth covered suede.

The sword features a typical mid-18th century Glasgow-style hilt and is very similar to other basket-handled swords that were used in England from the 16th century onwards, until they became legendary for their association with the Scottish Highlander fighters of the 17th and 18th centuries. The original sword blade, marked "Andrea Ferara", was probably made in Germany a century earlier and later fitted with a more contemporary basket-handle.
