The Cross of Calatrava is a symbol used by the Order of Calatrava and the Order of Montesa (this one in black), as well as by the Order of Preachers.
It consists of a Greek cross (formerly a Latin cross) with four equal arms, red and fleur-de-lis (with fleurs-de-lis at the ends of the arms). This cross appears on numerous coats of arms and flags of towns in the Campo de Calatrava.
In the Order of Calatrava it was black until the 15th century when it began to be represented in red.
