Viking axe type G
Whether used to cut down trees, build ships, houses and furniture, or wielded in battle, the axe was an indispensable and versatile tool for the Vikings. The shape and size of the axe heads were determined by their intended use. There were also elaborately decorated axes that were more of a status symbol and were often buried next to their owner. Today, Viking axes are popular collector's items, and are often wielded in movies, television series and video games to convey the image of the wild and fearless Vikings.
In terms of shape, the Viking axe head we offer here is classified as a Petersen Type G. The blade is hand-forged from high carbon steel, and the handle is made from sturdy ash wood.
Please note that this early medieval axe is not a battle-ready weapon . It is primarily designed as a collector's or decoration/display piece and is in no way suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collector's item, it is also perfectly suited as an accessory, for example to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud warrior perfect.
