IMPERIAL GAMBESON RECREATIONS

Long padded sleeve coat that covers the torso from the neck down over the hips in the front and back.

The gambeson is worn like a jacket and fastens in the front with a cotton lacing system, allowing the wearer to customize the tightness of the fit. The arms are easy to remove by untying the cotton cords at the shoulders and sleeves, and each cord is fastened with long-lasting brass eyelets.

Thick enough to serve as its own armor, this sturdy gambeson is constructed of heavy layers of puffed cotton canvas sandwiched between dyed wool on the outside and softer cotton lining on the inside. All of these layers are sewn in vertical lines, keeping the padding in place and mimicking a classic European medieval style.

Although European in cut, gambeson or padded style armour has seen use around the world since antediluvian times, making the Imperial Gambeson a great basic armour with a range of possibilities regardless of time and place.

MAINTENANCE

As a heavy duty fabric, this heavy canvas product is stronger and heavier than plain cotton. This material wrinkles easily, but can be ironed at a higher heat setting.

Cleaning

Clean dirt from the bag with a brush and hand wash cold when necessary.

Machine wash at 30°C/86°F. Wash separately the first time and with like colours afterwards. Do not tumble dry. Hang dry or lay flat to dry. For general stains or discolouration on the canvas, treat with a commercial fabric cleaner or dry with warm water and a soft cloth.
