The Ulfberht sword is one of the most notable Viking swords in history. Compared to other swords of the time, the Ulfberht was quite different as it was not made from several soft iron parts welded together with strips of steel, but was instead crafted from a single blade of carbon steel with sufficient carbon content that allowed for the creation of excellent swords. Furthermore, the design of the Ulfberht sword was also a great improvement compared to previous swords as the blade was sharpened more towards the tip, making it faster in blowing and recovery.
