Viking sword from Dybäck with scabbard
If you are a lover of Viking history or simply a collector of period items, you cannot miss the opportunity to have in your collection the Dybäck Viking Sword with Scabbard, Damascus Steel 0116040900. This magnificent recreation is based on an 11th century archaeological find discovered in Dybäck, Schonen, today Sweden. The original piece is one of the most beautiful Viking swords found in Scandinavia and can be admired at the Historical Museum in Stockholm.
The sword presented here features a straight, double-edged blade made of Damascus steel, with a wide throat and unsharpened cutting edges, ensuring not only a high quality finish but also great strength and durability. The handle is composed of a short, slightly curved stop bar, plus a brass wire-wrapped grip area and a generous knob with a slightly upward-curved base and a three-lobed "cap." Detailed motifs and patterns have been engraved on the parier and the base of the knob, resembling the ornamentation present on the original artifact.
The Dybäck Viking Sword with Scabbard, Damascus Steel 0116040900 also comes with a wooden scabbard with a brown genuine leather cover and brass fittings, providing a sturdy case that will protect it from wear and tear. The weight of this sword without a scabbard is approximately 1.1 kg and with a scabbard it weighs about 1.7 kg. Furthermore, its total length is approximately 92 cm, with a blade length of about 74 cm, its thickness is approximately 4 mm and its maximum width is approximately 4.5 cm. Its centre of gravity is located approximately 12.5 cm before the delivery.
It is important to note that this sword is not suitable for display combat, but it is ideal as a decorative object, to complete a costume or as a collector's item.
If you prefer a more robust option that also fits your needs, we invite you to check out our version with EN45 hardened spring steel blade (item number 0116040901).
Please note that the steel used is not stainless and may therefore show slight signs of corrosion. To regularly care for the blade we recommend using Ballistol, a universal oil that is ideal for preserving steel products.
