The rapier first appeared around 1500 and remained the favourite sword of the European nobility and gentry until the end of the 17th century. This single-handed, usually double-edged Renaissance sword with a long, thin blade and a pointed placement was primarily designed as a stabbing weapon, but could still be used quite effectively as a cutting weapon. It was used primarily by the nobility for both military and civilian purposes, and was usually equipped with a more or less elaborately designed ironing basket, bell or vessel, which provided better protection of the hand, whether on the battlefield or in a duel. Spread throughout Europe in a wide variety of forms, this blank-firing weapon enjoyed great popularity as a fencing, self-defence or dueling weapon and eventually became a status symbol and indispensable accessory of every nobleman's or official's wardrobe.
This reconstruction of a classic Spanish rapier with curved swept-hilt rapier from the Renaissance has a narrow double-edged blade made of EN45 spring steel with a diamond-shaped cross-section and pointed position. The cutting edges are not sharpened and the continuous blade rod is screwed to the end of the handle. The complex and elegant reinforcing bowl with S-shaped guard bar, temples and guard rings is made of stainless steel, as is the knob. The handle section consists of a wooden core with winding made of wired steel wire.
A brooch made of black leather sewn with mouth plate and steel band is included in the scope of delivery.
It should be noted that this sword is not suitable for show fighting. It is designed as a collector's item or decorative object and is also ideal as an accessory, for example to complete your costume.
