In this article we will tell you everything you need to know about the history and characteristics of this impressive sword.
Charles I of Spain and V of the Holy Roman Empire, also known as "the Caesar", was elected Holy Roman Emperor in 1519, and reigned jointly with his mother, Joanna I of Castile, from 1516 to 1556 over all the kingdoms and territories of Spain. Charles I is remembered for having united in his person the territories that came from the quadruple inheritance of his grandparents: Habsburg, Burgundian, Aragonese and Castilian.
After so many wars and conflicts, Charles V entered into a phase of reflection about himself, about life and his experiences and, in addition, about the state of Europe. To do so, he retired to the Monastery of Yuste, where he remained for a year and a half in retreat, far from the cities and political life, and accompanied by the order of the Hieronymites, who spiritually guided the monarch until his last days. On September 21, 1558, Charles I died of malaria. The coffin of Charles I is located in the Royal Crypt of the Monastery of El Escorial, known as the Pantheon of the Kings.
The Two-Handed Sword of Charles V is an exact replica of the sword used by the emperor during his reign.
