Hoplite sword with scabbard, Greek Xiphos

The Greek Xiphos hoplite sword was one of the most popular side arms among ancient Greek soldiers, including the feared Spartans. This one-handed sword was designed for slashing and stabbing, and was primarily used as an auxiliary weapon in close combat or in case the spear was lost or broken.

This beautiful reconstruction of the classic 6th/5th century BC Greek Xiphos features an unhardened EN45 spring steel blade beneath the widened root of the blade, which gradually widens towards the centre and tapers again towards the placement, with cutting edges that are not sharpened for safety. The authentically shaped handle consists of a wooden pommel with a steel cap, a steel hand guard and a handle section with a thick steel tang and riveted wooden shells.

This hoplite sword comes with a wooden scabbard and a red leather sheath with a characteristic shape at the mouth and chape, also made of wood. In addition, bronze rings are attached to the scabbard with leather straps to allow the user to carry his sword like a true Greek warrior on a belt across the shoulder.

It should be noted that this sword is not designed for display combat, but is made to be a collector's item or decorative object. In addition, it is ideal as an accessory to complete the costume of those who want to revive the spirit of the ancient Greek hoplites.
