Damascus steel sword with sheath
If you are looking for a sword that is both beautiful and historical, then the 0116041101 Damascus Steel Sword with Scabbard, Brass Hilt and Tinned is perfect for you. This Scandinavian Vendel Sword is a finely crafted and richly decorated reconstruction of a ship grave found in a ship cemetery near Uppsala, Sweden. With its classic one-handed design and double-edged blade forged from Damascus steel, this sword is a traditional example of a Nordic weapon.
The sword features a crossguard that is approximately 9 cm long, 1.5 cm thick and the generous pommel. The highly detailed, engraved motifs and patterns that adorned the handle of the original artifact have been reproduced as faithfully as possible on the tinned brass hilt. In addition, the wooden-core handle section is bound with brown leather, giving it an authentic look.
To ensure that the sword remains in its best condition, this one-handed Vendelzeit is delivered with a brown leather and wooden scabbard with a wooden belt loop (maximum belt width 5 cm) and with a tinned brass mouthguard and cape. Please note that this sword is not suitable for display combat, as it is designed as a collector's item or decorative object. It is ideal as an accessory, for example, to complete a costume.
In addition to its beauty and history, the sword also has impressive specifications. It features an overall length of approximately 89.5 cm and a blade length of approximately 73 cm with a blade thickness of approximately 4 mm (cutting edge approx. 1 mm). The maximum width of the blade is approximately 5 cm, and the center of gravity is located approximately 13 cm in front of the stop. The weight of the sword without a scabbard is approximately 1.55 kg and the weight with a scabbard is approximately 1.9 kg.
Even if you are an experienced collector, it is important to note that the steel used here is not stainless and may have slight traces of corrosion. To keep the blade and sheath in good condition, regular maintenance with a universal oil such as Ballistol is recommended, which is ideal for preserving steel goods.
