The medieval shield offered here shows the royal coat of arms of England as it was used by the English monarchs in the Early Middle Ages for a period of around 170 years (with brief interruptions). It consists of three identical striding lions , so-called lions passant guardants , in gold with blue tongues and claws, on a crimson background.
This coat of arms was used by the armies of Edward I and Edward II during the long First War of Scottish Independence between the Kingdom of Scotland and the Kingdom of England in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. It was first introduced in 1198 by Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) and continued to be used by his successors to the throne until King Edward III, who claimed the French throne, modified it to include the coat of arms of France in the mid-14th century to incorporate.

This heraldic shield has the typical features of heraldic shields that were common in the High Middle Ages (approx. 12th to 14th centuries): a triangular or V-shape, a flat top and rounded sides that taper towards the bottom. It is made of plywood, stretched with linen and hand-painted. The yellow-painted back of the shield is provided with two shield shackles (fastening straps / arm loops) and a longer shoulder strap made of strong, sturdy leather, which are firmly fixed in position with steel rivets. The leather upholstery, which is fastened with nails at arm height, provides improved protection against impacts and knocks.

Although this wooden sign is too light and thin for full contact, it is still a great prop for light show combat, reenactment, LARP, stage or TV/film and will make your transformation into a proud, noble knight or warrior simply perfect. It is also a nice collector's piece, display item or decorative object for all lovers of English history and heraldry.
