Anglo-Saxon round shield with snake and rune motif , 61 cm Ø

The round shield we offer here is made of approx. 13 mm thick plywood and decorated with an elaborate snake motif and three runes from the Anglo-Saxon runic alphabet known as futhorc .

At its center, the shield features a generously sized steel boss that is held firmly in place with four rivets, and leaves enough room to accommodate even the hefty hands of a Viking. The edge of the shield is reinforced with metal, and the back is fitted with a solid wooden handle.

Although this early medieval wooden shield may be a bit too light and thin for full contact, it is still a great prop for reenactment, LARP, stage or TV/film and will make your transformation into a proud Anglo-Saxon or Viking warrior perfect. Moreover, it also makes a nice collectible or display piece.
