This unique Rondel dagger is based on an original dating back to around 1400. The blade is 1050 high carbon steel and is mounted in a well detailed brass hilt. A thick leather sheath with a belt loop is included.

This Rondel Dagger is based on similar originals, one of which is in the arms collection of Rome's Castel Sant'Angelo and the other in the German Historical Museum in Berlin. Immediately apparent with this single-edged dagger is a deliberately flared tip, an innovation which was probably intended to improve its piercing ability by incorporating a broader point which would serve to make a wide, large wound even with a shallow piercing stroke. The blade has a thick ricasso and a thick spine to ensure that it is fairly rigid, again a development to improve its thrusting ability. Its single edge would also have been capable of making substantial cuts.

An elegant dagger that displays the social class of its bearer, such a weapon would look at home in a prominent position on the belt of a knight, nobleman, or wealthy burgher.

Includes free sheath.

Specs:

ATTENTION: This is a sharp or pointed item and should not be used for recreational combat, or any other type, without prior modification. In any case, the company cannot be held responsible for incorrect use or negligence in the handling of this item.

Length: 44 cm
Blade: 30.5 cm

Carbon steel is not treated so it may have rust, which is easily removable. You can protect this item from rust with synthetic or mineral oil.

We recommend not storing the blade inside the sheath for long periods of time because leather is a hygroscopic material and can therefore transmit moisture to the metal and oxidize it over time.

The sheath in the images is shown for illustrative purposes only and may not match the appearance of the one supplied and shipped. This is because the finish may be different depending on the leather run or manufacturing circumstances, so it is not possible to choose the finish or colour.

No claims will be accepted for any of the above cases.

This product is a historical reproduction designed according to its aesthetic appearance and materials, but not in all cases to fulfill the same functions as the original piece. This product is not treated for food use.
