This 15th century Rondel dagger is fitted with a 1050 high carbon steel blade; the hilt rondel is steel and the grip is polished wood. A thick leather sheath with belt loop is included.
This style of this Rondel Dagger has a certain practical elegance to it - utilitarian with a hint of artistic flair that comes with quality craftsmanship. It is an ideal field dagger for the professional man-at-arms or a knight. Rondels are quite practical in the way they lie flat and secure a hand in position, giving the hand something to push against when striking. This is particularly useful when wearing gauntlets and helps compensate for the loss of finger finesse when wearing armoured hand protection. As a bonus, the pommeled rondel can be struck with the free hand to drive the dagger through a gap in the armour and through the thick cloth beneath.
Specs:
Blade length: 29cmWe recommend not storing the blade inside the sheath for long periods of time because leather is a hygroscopic material and can therefore transmit moisture to the metal and oxidize it over time.
