This beautiful late medieval dagger is based on an original early 15th century piece from Germany. This particular type of dagger, known as a bollock dagger , ballock dagger or kidney dagger , owes its rather peculiar name to the characteristic shape of its hilt which terminates at the guard with two distinctive spherical/egg-shaped lobes or protuberances.
This reproduction features a single-edged, unsharpened steel blade that tapers evenly from the guard to a sharp point. The octagonal hilt is carved from a single piece of wood and the flat steel pommel is adorned with a decorative brass plate.
The dagger comes complete with a hand-dyed vegetable-tanned leather sheath, fitted with a brass overlay and belt loop. The shade of brown may vary slightly from piece to piece due to hand-dyeing.
Please note that as the blade has a sharp point, this dagger is intended as a collector's or decorative piece and is not suitable for combat reenactment.
