This Viking Age knife based on a Baltic war knife/seax found in an 11th century burial mound in Priekuli-Gugeri, Latvia, features a razor-sharp blade made of high-carbon steel. The wooden handle is finished on both sides with bone and brass rings. It has an oval cross-section that ensures a solid grip on the knife. The brass end cap is equipped with a practical lanyard hole (leather lanyard is included in delivery).
The beautiful leather sheath with period brass fittings is equipped with three brass rings and leather loops for the typical Viking-style horizontal carry. The loops are adorned with stylized animal heads inspired by finds from Bjá¶rkᶠ/ Birka, Sweden.
Please note that as the blade is sharp and fully functional, this scramasax is intended as a collector's or decorative piece and is not suitable for combat reenactment.
