Damascus Steel Folding Viking Knife

This Viking pocket knife has a razor-sharp 256-layer Damascus steel blade. The handle is made of bone and adorned with period details.

As the knife is entirely handmade, the embellishments may vary slightly from piece to piece. Also note that bone is a natural product and variations in the colour and grain of the bone are quite common. Each Viking folder therefore has its own unique handle and the images above are for reference only.

As a common practice, a harder high carbon steel and a softer low carbon steel are repeatedly forged and folded. The high carbon steel ensures higher hardness, better hardenability, and longer edge retention, while the softer steel confers greater blade flexibility and tensile strength.
