The Viking knife with Damascus steel blade is a hand-crafted collector's piece that is stunning in every way. This Viking Seax has a razor-sharp 256-layer Damascus steel blade that ensures increased hardness and better edge retention. This knife is truly an eye-catcher with its beautiful wood and bone handle! The handle features alternating layers of dark wood and light-colored bone separated by thin red-colored spacers. The hilt and the collar are made of brass. Delivery of the Viking knife includes a beautiful tanned leather sheath with ornate brass fittings. The suspension system consists of two carrying rings, a strap splitter, and three leather straps. This is an authentic replica of the split strap suspension systems that were quite widespread in the Viking Age. The strap splitter was designed to allow for optimal positioning of each individual strap, so that the sword or seax could be hung on the belt at the perfect angle to be quickly drawn from its sheath.

Since the knife's blade is extremely sharp and fully functional, this knife has been designed as a collector's or decorative piece and is not suitable for combat reenactment. But what exactly is Damascus steel? It refers to a composite steel forged from two or more different types of steel. This steel is named after its birthplace, the Syrian city of Damascus, an ancient stronghold of stamped steel production. The procedure involves repeatedly welding and folding a harder high-carbon steel and a softer low-carbon steel. The high-carbon steel ensures higher hardness, better temperability, and greater edge retention, while the softer steel confers greater flexibility and tensile strength. This procedure, which emerged in an era when steel grades were often low and inconsistent, allows the positive attributes of different steel grades to be combined. In addition, the different shading generated by the varying carbon content of the alternating layers gives rise to strikingly beautiful patterns, such as the twisted motif called the Twist Damascus Pattern or the Rose Damascus pattern.

The Viking knife with Damascus steel blade has a weight of about 130 g (about 230 g with sheath) and a total length of about 23.5 cm. It also has a blade length of about 12 cm. With a leather and brass sheath with hanger, this knife is an excellent gift for knife collectors and Viking enthusiasts. Don't miss out on the chance to own this fantastic piece of Viking history!
